India city profile: climate and disaster resilience

This recent report by Christian Aid based on study across 12 Indian cities explores whether they are ready to withstand climate-related disasters and presents detailed report for these cities including policy implications in relation to Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA). 

This study initiates a discourse on urban risk reduction, inclusive of disaster and climate resilience, at the local as well as national level. It intends to bring into focus policy directions as well as specific city climate action plans by analysing the disaster resilience of 12 cities across India (Aizawl, Amritsar, Bhubaneshwar, Delhi, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Nagpur, Port Blair, Shimla and Varanasi), which were chosen from varying population sizes and land characteristics.
