The Government of Goa assigned to Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Goa State Office a two-year research project to assess the quality of the Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) submitted, compliance with Environment
Clearance (EC) conditions and the adequacy of the Environmental Management Plans(EMP) with respect to 105 mines in operation in Goa. The study was ably supported by The Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Goa and enjoyed full cooperation of the mine management as well as the people of the state. It has been conducted in an open, transparent and participatory manner by organizing various workshops, and consultations with a
wide range of stakeholders and field visits to the mining sites.
