Adapting to transboundary risks in mountain regions
Adapting to transboundary risks in mountain regions
This brief examines solutions on the Adaptation at Altitude Solutions Portal that have been implemented either across borders or in multiple countries with shared borders. These transboundary solutions were then categorised according to the type of risk that they primarily address: hazards, risks to shared resources, ecosystem risks. The first group addresses hazards such as avalanches and flooding; the second focuses on the management of resources, such as water; and the third group describes solutions where impacts on the environment and ecosystems can affect livelihoods, for instance in agriculture. Overall, six solutions are discussed within the three main themes.
