Concentrated solar power: heating up India's solar thermal market under the National Solar Mission

In the wake of historic summer blackouts that left more than 700 million Indians without power, a new report released by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) shows that concentrated solar power can play an essential role in achieving a secure and diversified energy future for India. According to the new report “Concentrated Solar Power: Heating Up India’s Solar Thermal Market under the National Solar Mission.” India has jumpstarted its solar energy industry in just over two years thanks to Phase 1 of the government’s National Solar Mission. A major contributor to this growth is solar thermal power, including seven large-scale concentrated solar power (CSP) projects now underway in India.
