Nepal emphasizes the critical role of ecosystem function for human well-being and economic development, which is reflected in national policies and plans. Nepal is also making concerted efforts to strengthen three pillars of the Convention on Biological Diversity, namely, conservation, sustainable utilization and benefit sharing through national biodiversity strategies and action plans. This report presents the scenario of biodiversity in Nepal and its status and trends. It also presents the past efforts and achievements in biodiversity conservation.
