The Action Taken Report of the Committee deals with the action taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the recommendations contained in the Two Hundred and Twenty Ninth Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs on the 'Management of COVID-19 Pandemic and Related Issues'. In view of the importance and sensitivity of the subject, the Committee held a meeting on 28th June, 2021, to keep itself abreast of the latest situation in the country and steps taken by the Government of India on the recommendations made by the Committee in its 229th Report. In the meeting, the representatives of the MHA, Ministries of Finance, Commerce & Industry, Health & Family Welfare and Labour & Employment briefed the Committee on the „Socio-Economic Fallout of the COVID-19 Pandemic‟s Second Wave‟. The Committee was informed about the rise in COVID-19 case in different places in different time; implementation of micro containment strategy at the district, city level; localised lockdowns; coordination with States/UTs by providing overall guidance; number of cases, deaths, recovery rate and case fatality rate; institutional arrangements and advisories issued to manage the second wave; challenges faced during second wave; five-fold strategy of test-track-treat vaccination and adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour; status on production of vaccines; infrastructure, testing, local containment and clinical management; efforts to fulfil augmented oxygen demand; guidelines for preparedness on paediatric care; release of funds to States under State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF); augmentation of health infrastructure; extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package by 180 days for the intended beneficiaries; vaccination drive; economic recovery post-second wave; food procurement/distribution and employment generation under MNREGA, etc.
