Poorly rehabilitated, adivasi families displaced by the Malay Dam in 1983 in Palamu of Jharkhand are now accused of encroaching on forest land.

The Kaleghagh Dam is located at the Simdega district of Jharkhand. The dam was constructed in 1980 as a minor irrigation project of the irrigation department with the aim of irrigating land of the Simdega block, where three villages-Bernibera, Bara Barpani and Bhudhratoli were completely submerged for the dam. Intrestingly, the project failed to achieve its objective.
