The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas has issued a directive emphasizing stricter measures to control paddy stubble burning during the 2024 harvest season. This directive was issued on April 12, 2024.

Under Section 12 (l) of the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas Act,2021, the Commission is vested with powers to take all such measures, issue directions, etc., as it deems necessary or expedient for the purpose of protecting and improving the quality of the air in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas.

The Commission for Air Quality management (CAQM) issued an order to revoke the restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan(GRAP) stage- III, after an improvement witnessed in the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the city which was recorded at 312.
