'The district administration has given permission for laterite quarrying at Marle village in the taluk succumbing to MLA

The Government has released Rs 17 crore for the drinking water projects to supply water to Birur-Kadur town. The towns will receive permanent water within few months, said MLA K M Krishnamurthy.

Environmental orgnisations like Wild Cat -C, Nature Conservation Guild and Bhadra Wildlife Conservation Trust has urged the district administration to ban the use of elephants for timber work in coffee estates in Chikmagalur district.
