Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Dr. Sarvabhoum Bagali (State of Karnataka) dated 11/09/2017 regarding mechanical mining of minerals in rivers and flood plains in Karnataka. Counsel for the State of Karnataka submitted before the Tribunal that they would permit regulated dredging for removal of clay and sand from the river for the purposes of maintaining its free flow only. There shall be no mining contract granted for in river and flood plain mining.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of National Green Tribunal Bar Association Vs. Dr. Sarvabhoum Bagali (State of Karnataka) dated 23/02/2017 regarding illegal and unauthorized mining in the middle of Bhima river, Kurugodu and Chinchapur Village, District Sholapur, Maharashtra.

NGT appoints Chetan Nagare as Local Commissioner who shall visit the sites of Kurugodu and Chinchapur, Village, District Sholapur immediately and report to the Tribunal the position of mechanical suction mining being carried on in the said river at these places.

The National Green Tribunal on March 23, 2016 asked Maharashtra and Karnataka to issue notice to all miners of the States carrying on mining activity on the river creating deep pits that is impermissible under the law in force.
