After receiving a positive response from Gram Panchayats under the Total Sanitation Campaign, Himachal Pradesh has initiated a special scheme for solid waste management to maintain hygienic living condition in villages.

Himachal Pradesh has sought share in energy to be generated from ultra mega power projects (UMPPs) being established in different states of the country and urged the Centre to allocate at least 400 MW of thermal power from these projects.

SHIMLA: The hill State of Himachal has the highest road density among the entire hill States of India, which as per the latest study is 53km per 100sq. kms, claimed a government spokesman here on Sunday. He said the State Government is providing high priority to the development and maintenance of roads in the State, as roads are vital infrastructure for rapid economic growth of the State.
