Lagos — The Lagos State government has invested N22 billion in recycling of waste materials, the Managing Director of Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), Ola Oresanya has disclosed.
The city has around 1,500 general practitioners but just 250 of them have been registered with the firm appointed to collect and dispose of the biomedical waste generated in the city.
There has been a 16 per cent increase in daily generation of bio-medical waste in 2012-13 as against a marginal increase of 0.33 per cent the year ago, Lok Sabha was informed today.
