Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) drive to bring all clinics in the city under its common biomedical waste disposal system has flopped.

Nearly 280 units generating bio-medical waste in the city and district are facing action from Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) and Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

This CAG performance audit report on social sector tabled in the Gujarat state assembly on 3rd October 2013, criticised the state government for poor implementation of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) and said that every third child in Gujarat is underweight.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) , the premier medical institute, does not have an operational sewage treatment plant (STP) while other hospitals, including Safdarjung Hospital and Lady Hardinge, have had no such facility till date, an expert committee informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) which termed the finding as “shocking”.
