With monsoon yet to hit the country’s northern region, the Bhakra Nangal dam on Tuesday registered water inflow of 35,728 cusecs — an eight-year low.

With the opening of spillways of the Bhakra reservoir this morning, villages of Anandpur Sahib situated downhill the Sutlej started flooding by the evening. As the water level touched 1680.05 ft in the morning, the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) opened spillways at 9 am today.
