The National Green Tribunal came down heavily on Municipal Corporation, Mumbai for action not being taken for installation of STP, inspite of directions issued by MPCB, at 37 locations indicated by IIT, Powai, on either side bank of ‘Mithi’ river. Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Jalbiradari & Anr. Vs. The MoEF. dated 15/01/2014 regarding industries, which are within proximity of 30 metres distance from the both side walls of ‘Mithi’ river. NGT order also states that National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) has accepted the proposed work of environmental impact of blasting, including ecology and the water quality etc. in the midst of ‘Mithi’ river, and partly has carried out the same.
