TOYOTA, General Motors and Ford are poised to raise car prices for the fourth time this year as they capitalise on cheap funding-fuelled demand and improve profitability that has been under pressure due to rising commodity prices.
Maruti Suzuki India plans to introduce a CNG variant of its recently upgraded WagonR hatchback within the next three months. The upgraded version could cost about Rs 70,000 more.

JAPANESE carmakers Honda and Toyota plan to develop diesel engines for their passenger cars even as rivals like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai spend more on building and marketing diesel cars to keep pace with demand.
With new emission norms kicking in from April 1, car companies have once again increased prices, by one to three per cent across models, to offset the increase in cost of upgrading vehicle engines. This is the third rise in car prices since January.
The emission norms have risen from BS-III to BS-IV in 13 cities and from BS-II to BS-III in the rest of the country.
