A majority of the 17 road works awarded under the public-private partnership (PPP) scheme in the first phase of National Highways Development Programme (NHDP) were delayed, according to a recent report by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. Of these projects, only five were completed in time, while there were delays of 2-42 months in others.

1,464 km of highways in the State would be developed

TIRUCHI: An outlay of Rs. 9,880 crore is expected to be invested under the third phase of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP), Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T. R. Baalu said.

With the completion of the Ambala Zirakpur four-laning project, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to formally inaugurate the project on December 10.

Union Minister for Shipping, Roads, Transport and Highway T R Baalu will throw open the project for which a toll plaza has been set up at Dappar.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) risks losing $300 million of the $620 million World Bank loan for the $933 million Lucknow-Muzaffarpur National Highway Project (LMNHP), if work on the project is not expedited and safety concerns not addressed within a short period of time.
