The much-maligned Sariska Tiger Reserve in Alwar district of Rajasthan is going to get back its flagship species soon. Four years after the disappearance of its famous tigers, the reserve is getting ready now for re-introduction of the animal. Much deliberations and some ground level action, including shifting of at least one of the forest villages inside the reserve and improvement in the habitat, have gone into the preparations for the pioneering act, which would have few parallels in the world's conservation history.

After successful completion of work to reduce power transmission and distribution losses to 20 per cent in the rural areas, the Rajasthan Government's Energy Department on Tuesday set a new target for bringing down the losses to 10 per cent or below at all divisional headquarters across the State. State Energy Secretary and Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, Shrimat Pandey, laid down the ambitious target as part of the ongoing feeder renovation programme at a video-conference with the district officials.
