Dumping of marble and granite waste in the storm water drain of Mohi village, district Rajasmand.

The NGT, February 22 called for a report on the complaint received from a number of villagers of Mohi village, tehsil and district Rajasmand, Rajasthan. The allegation was that some of the marble and granite units in the area are dumping marble and granite sludge/slurry and other waste in the storm water drain obstructing its flow.

A joint committee comprising the Punjab Pollution Control Board and the District Magistrate, Faridkot was directed by the NGT, February 22 to look into the allegation of pipelines being laid for disposal of cattle and dairy waste which is being discharged in open area adjoining Kotkapura-Faridkot main road near a public school causing damage to environment. District Magistrate, Faridkot was asked to be the nodal agency for compliance and coordination.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Amit Kumar Mittal Vs State of Punjab dated 20/02/2023.

The grievance was that there was illegal dumping of fly ash in open space and near pond by M/s Sukhbir Agro Energy Limited, village Sedha Singh Wala, tehsil Jaitu, district Faridkot, Punjab who is making electricity by burning stubble in violation of environmental norms and causing air and water pollution resulting in nuisance to people at large as well as causing damage to the environment and drinking water of the canal.

New saplings will be planted in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS Nagar), Punjab from time to time during the planting season by the Municipal Corporation and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) and proper space will be kept around the trees. The work of de-concretization around trees will be undertaken and in place of interlocking tiles, perforated tiles will be installed.

Report filed by the Punjab Pollution Control Board on M/s Trident Factory, Dhanaula, Mansa road, Barnala. The NGT, February 8, 2022 had directed Trident Factory to pay a sum of Rs. 5 crore on 'polluter pay principle'.

The amount to be deposited in a separate account was to be used for improvement of environment of the area as per action plan to be prepared by the Central Pollution Control Board and the Punjab Pollution Control Board.
