Grievance in the application is against failure to take remedial action against blockage of canal at Sri Balaji Nagar, Senneerkuppam, Poonamallee in district Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. The blockage is caused by growth of hyacinth and other water plants such as long/hard ‘koral pull’, and construction debris that is dumped on the waterway by the contractors of bridge near SA Engineering College.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of P. G. Sethuram Vs State of Tamil Nadu dated 11/11/2021. Grievance in the application is against illegal operation of a stone crusher – Erode mines at survey No. 733/2, 734/2, Senapathipalayam village, Kangayam taluk, Tirupur district, Tamiil Nadu, on agricultural land, in violation of environmental norms. According to the applicant, the said unit is functioning close of the residential houses, check dam, temples and causing damage to the environment.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of M. Sivakumar Vs State of Tamil Nadu. The District Magistrate, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu has informed the NGT that appropriate remedial action has been taken against illegal farming of carnivorous African catfish in the district. The farming of African catfish is banned under the Biological Diversity Act, 2020. The said farming involves feeding of chicken waste, egg waste etc. causing foul smell and water pollution.

Accordingly, the NGT disposed of the case.

The petitioner, M. Sivakumar had filed the petition before the National Green Tribunal (NGT) alleging that illegal farming of African catfish also known as 'African magur' was taking place in Krishnagiri district. This activity was banned under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. The said farming involved feeding of chicken wastes, egg wastes to African catfish causing foul smell and water pollution.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of In Defence of Environment and Animals (IDEA) Vs The State of Tamil Nadu dated 25/03/2019 regarding defacement/disfigurement on rocks, hills, hillocks and also on public constructions. The SC directs Tamil Nadu to take all necessary steps to ensure that there is no defacement/disfigurement of any public places including rocks, hills, hillocks, public constructions by writing slogans, messages of political parties including depiction of photographs of public figures/ politicians until further orders.
