The renewable energy sector in India, led by the wind energy segment, is seeing a rebound in investment with around five deals worth $500 million (approximately . 3,000 crore) being sealed in 2013. In contrast, there has not been a single deal in the conventional energy segment.

“Investors are shying away from conventional energy due to policy uncertainties and lack of fuel linkage. While the government has been flat-footed on thermal energy, it is encouraging renewable energy, making the sector attractive for investors,” said Vish Narain, partner at global private investment firm TPG.

The new order will take ONGC toral installed wind power capacity to 153.9 MW

Suzlon Group, India's largest wind turbine manufacturer, has received an order for a 102.9 MW project from Oil & natural gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC). The project comprises 49 units of Suzlon's S88- 2.1 MW wind turbines and will be commissioned in the FY14. The project will be commissioned in Rajasthan.

With a total rated output of 350 MW the Riviere-du-Moulin wind farm will be the biggest project in the history of REPower.

Suzlon Energy has rallied 8% to Rs 22.95 after the company said its subsidiary REpower Systems SE has signed a definitive contract with EDF EN Canada Inc, for delivery of 175.2 megawatt (MW) wind turbines of the REpower MM82 and MM92 type for a project in Qubec, Canada. “With a total rated output of 350 MW the Riviere-du-Moulin wind farm will be the biggest project in the history of REPower,” Suzlon Energy said in a statement.

Will supply 24 units of the S88-2.1 MW wind turbine generators

Wind energy major Suzlon on Thursday said its lenders, comprising 19 banks led by the SBI, have approved its proposal to rejig Rs 9,500 crore of domestic debt, providing a big relief to financially troubled company.

"The empowered group of corporate debt restructuring (CDR) cell comprising 19 lenders today formally approved our CDR proposal to recast Rs 9,500 crore of domestic debt. The package is effective from October 1, 2012 and does not include our foreign currency debt," Suzlon said in a statement.

Aluminium giant NALCO is setting up its second Wind Power Plant in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan with a capacity of 47.6 MW.

The Rs 283 crore Wind Power Project will be executed at Ludarva in Jaisalmer district through M/s Gamesa Wind Turbines Private Ltd, which involves erection of 56 Wind Turbines, each of 850 KW rating, NALCO sources said on Thursday. This is the second green initiative of NALCO towards promoting sustainable development by harnessing unconventional and renewable energy sources, which would credit the 'Navaratna' PSU with incentives from the government.

One of the leading wind turbine makers in the world Suzlon Group's wind park in Kutch district of Gujarat has crossed 1000 Mw of installed capacity. This makes the company's Kutch wind park one of the largest of its kind in India.

Suzlon currently has a total installed capacity of over 1,500 Mw in Gujarat. Apart from Kutch, the company's other installations in the state are at Jamanagar, Porbandar, Rajkot and Bhavnagar. "Suzlon's maiden project for this (Kutch) wind park was initiated in August 2005 at Changdai site in Gujarat.

Suzlon's REpower Systems SE will deliver 51 wind turbines to six projects

Suzlon Group subsidiary, REpower Systems SE, announced today it has concluded a contract with wpd Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of project developer wpd AG, for the delivery of 51 wind turbines. As part of this, a service and maintenance agreement (ISP) for a total of 15 years for the new projects was also concluded, the company said in a statement.
