Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of T. N. Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 05/02/2018 regarding steps to deal with garbage in Delhi. In the affidavit filed by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) it is stated that the SDMC has initiated action for establishment of an additional Waste-to-Energy project and an Engineered Landfill site, compliant with Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of T. N. Godavarman Thirumulpad Vs Union of India & Others dated 01/11/2017 regarding illegal mining in Rohtas region of Bihar filed by Dr. Ghanshyam Narain Singh. The Applicant (Dr. Ghanshyam Narain Singh) has been informed that a a site visit by the CEC (Central Empowered Committee) will take place on 8th and 9th November, 2017. He may pass on whatever information he has to the CEC and to Mr. A.D.N. Rao (amicus curiae) and he can accompany the CEC during the site. The report of the CEC will be filed within two weeks.

Supreme Court directs that mining leases having forest area may be renewed only after obtaining prior approval under the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 and Rule 24A of the Mineral Concession Rules, 1960 is subject to the compliance of the provisions of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.

Supreme Court directs that the state of Karnataka will not grant any mining lease except in accordance with the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 and other statutory requirements.

Supreme Court directs the concerned authorities including the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change to consider the Application and take a final decision within a period of four weeks.
