Tannin degrading microbes isolated from tannery effluents were tested for their ability to degrade vegetable tannins in tannery effluents, along with other polluting parameters in the effluents like Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS).

The use of heavy metals along with the associate risks of metal pollution has increased to a great extent over the recent times. Cadmium is one of the most harmful toxic metals. This metal is being increasingly consumed in the industries. Its pollution potential, has therefore given rise to the necessity of removal of cadmium from wastewater.

Anaerobic treatment has gained tremendous success over the past two decades for treatment of industrial effluents. Over the past 30 years, the popularity of anaerobic wastewater treatment has increased as public utilities and industries have utilized its considerable benefits.

This paper presents, result of laboratory experiments for the recovery of alum from sludge obtained from tertiary treatment of effluent collected from waste stabilization pond after grab sampling. The study was conducted on wastewater from a stabilization pond having capacity of 54 mld, which was treating municipal wastewater from Ujjain city.

The removal of chromium (VI) from synthetic wastewater by adsorption on activated carbon prepared from Royal Poinciana shell was tried to determine the effects of different dosages and different pH.

Anaerobic digestion of municipal solid waste was carried out in the laboratory at room temperature to assess the bio-energy production from municipal solid waste (MSW) with high total solids content. The total biogas production from the municipal garbage was found to be 3.2 L in 120 days.
