Shillong: The central executive committee of Garo Students' Union has apprised the Divisional Forest Officer (Territorial), West Garo Hills of the urgent need to enforce strict measures to stop illegal felling of tress and smuggling of timber in the State, particularly in Garo Hills.
SHILLONG: KHNAM has asked the government for a White Paper on the UCIL "pre-project" development programmes and the proposed uranium project in West Khasi Hills district.
The Central Executive Council of KHNAM has decided to make representations to Chief Minister DD Lapang and ask him to stop the UCIL development projects in Mawthabah, West Khasi Hills, the site for the uranium project.
