Order of the Karnataka High Court regarding midday meals in Karnataka, 30/03/2021
Order of the Karnataka High Court regarding recommencement of midday meals in Karnataka dated 30/03/2021.
The bench of Justices B. V. Nagarathna and J. M. Khazi of the High Court of Karnataka said that the provision of midday meal is a "necessary concomitant of the fundamental right under Article 21A of the Constitution of India insofar as the children who are in the age group of six to fourteen years are concerned."
Karnataka has been directed to take a decision with respect to the provision of mid-day meals with effect from April 15, 2021 so long as the schools in respect of 6th standard to 10th standard are kept open for the physical attendance of the students.
The High Court order came in the wake of the status report filed by the Additional Government advocate, which stated that for the 6th to 10th standard children, the government has decided to continue with the food security allowance in the form of food grains to be supplied to the students.
