Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Vardhaman Kaushik Vs. Union of India & Others dated 10/11/2016 regarding deteriorating air quality in Delhi.

NGT observed that "the children of today have a right to breathe clean air and play in the play ground rather than be ordered to be shut down in their respective homes" and Ordered for a Centralized Monitoring Committee and State Monitoring Committee to be constituted for ensuring proper implementation of the judgments and the laws relating to prevention and control of air pollution. NGT also directed the concerned State/NCT Delhi and the State Committees shall constitute a special task force to ensure that there is no burning of waste of any kind, roads are mechanically cleaned and there is no undue traffic congestion in the city particularly during the period of environmental emergency.
