Order of the Supreme Court regarding disinfection of aircraft with passengers on-board, 29/11/2019
Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of Interglobe Aviation Limited Vs Union of India Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary & Others dated 29/11/2019 regarding disinfecting of aircraft with passengers on-board.
The issue of disinsecting of aircraft involves, on the one hand, concerns relating to the need to take steps for preventing the transmission of vector borne diseases. On the other hand, it involves issues pertaining to the health of passengers and crew who may be exposed to insecticides, hence the SC was of the view that the matter should be considered by a joint committee.
The apex court directed that the committee should look into the need of disinfection of aircraft and the impact of disinfection on the health and safety of passengers and crew. The committee has to submit its report within two months from the date of the first meeting.
