The present study spanning over two consecutive years (Oct 2007-2008) was conducted to assess the impact of Durga-idol immersion in the river Bramhani at Rourkela. Idol immersion and its impact on the water quality were studied by considering the magnitude of the environmental problems associated with the Durga-idol immersion.
