Additional Advocate General for the State of Assam submits that the process of issuing the final notification publishing the state policy on the grant of permission to set up brick kiln industries, is at its final stage and is only awaiting consideration of the Finance Department, Govt. of Assam, which, as per him, would be completed within six weeks.

Pradhan & Others Vs State of Odisha & Others dated 21/03/2017 regarding obtaining Environmental Clearance (EC) for the widening of National Highway-200 as the work would also involve extraction of minor minerals including soil, land and gravels. NGT impleads SEIAA, Odisha and DEIAA, Deogarh district as according to the court these are the competent authorities to decide on the question as to whether the project would require EC or not.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Iosterson Sun & Others Vs State of Meghalaya & Others dated 16/03/2017 regarding large scale construction by the Army posing serious threat to drinking water resources along the catchment areas of Shillong Peak, Meghalaya. It is stated that the Shillong peak and its slopes are the source of drinking water where various streams and rivulets originate and any disturbance in the existing conditions of the area, as per the applicants, would endanger the catchment area.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Bishnu Pada Pakhira Vs Member Secretary, West Bengal Pollution Control Board & Others dated 14/03/2017 regarding housing construction work over waterbodies, Keyadaha village, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.

NGT said that the question that arises is as to whether the actual construction work of the complex commenced before the law i.e. East Kolkata Wetlands (Conservation & Management) Act, 2006 was enforced.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata) in the matter of Biplab Kumar Chowdhury Vs West Bengal Pollution Control Board & Others dated 14/03/2017 regarding sand mining continuing unabated at various parts of West Bengal especially Hooghly and Bankura districts.

It is stated in the Application that despite specific prohibition on sand mining vide aforesaid order, the said activities are continuing unabated at various parts of the State. NGT directs the respondents to file their affidavit-in-opposition and state on the factual aspects.
