Govt gears up to phase out old public vehicles
The government has started preparations to remove public vehicles over 20 years old from across the country in its bid to make public transport system safe and reliable. The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is currently carrying out homework in this regard.
There are an estimated 60,000 public vehicles in the country. Around 10 percent of these vehicles are over 20 years old.
