Kerala tea estate turns a new leaf with mid-day meal scheme
A state government-run tea estate in Wayanad has registered record production by introducing free noon meal for its workers. The Priyadarsini Tea Estate has incorporated a tourism component to find resources to feed its 316 tribal workers, majority of them women.
The tea estate, spread over 955 acres, was conceived as a rehabilitation project for the tribals freed from bonded labour in 1984.
