The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) has put onus on the State Government to check illegal mining in free and encroached areas.

Controller General CS Gundewar said IBM has constituted task forces to keep tabs on violations by lessees. However, there is nothing that the agency can do about deviations carried out in free areas.
