Water stress looms over Indian companies
According to a CDP-KPMG report, the demand for water is set to exceed supply by about 50% in 2030
In 2007, Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station in Maharashtra was shut down due to scarcity of water. In almost an action replay, 1,130 mega watt Parli thermal plant met with the same fate of Chandrapur in 2013. Now, ahead of the World Water Day on Saturday, Indian corporates have raised an alarm over the likelihood of India turning into a water scarce nation by 2020.
