Bhutan's ability to harness the hydropower resources has been made possible because of the close and friendly ties with its neighbour India. India has been providing both technical and financial assistance to develop the numerous hydropower projects in Bhutan. India has huge power shortage where as Bhutan has large hydropower potential. The relationship developed in the hydropower sector has been a win-win situation for both the countries.
