A nuclear power plant coming up in Haryana, India, conducts a public hearing without making the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report public. The controversial plant is being constructed by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) on fertile agricultural land.

A public hearing for granting environmental clearance to the upcoming 4X700 MW Haryana Atomic Power Project(HAPP) will be held at Gorakhpur, Fatehabad district, in Haryana on July 17, 2012. The controversial plant is being constructed by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) on fertile agricultural land.

But the complete EIA report has not been made available to the public (as per the rules).

The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) is intended to setup Haryana Atomic Power Project (HAPP) 4x700 MWe Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) units at Gorakhapur, Dist Fatehabd. The report is an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the proposed 4X700 MWe PHWR Haryana Atomic Power Project (HAPP) of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). The report is prepared as per the procedure specified in the EIA 2006 Notification of Ministry of Forest and Environment (MoE&F).
