Minister of State in the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Shri g. M. Siddeshwara informed the Parliament that a scheme, namely ‘Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India – FAME India’ has been launched by the Department of Heavy Industry for the initial period of two years w.e.f 1st April 2015. This scheme offers demand incentive by way of upfront reduced purchase price to the buyers of electric/hybrid vehicles.
