The remnants of asbestos mining in Rajasthan: an occupational health update

Mine Labour Protection Campaign (MLPC) has been striving to protect the rights of the mineworkers for years now and asbestosis could not have slipped from their agenda. To reach to the root of problem, MPLC had to deal with an array of issues. The reticent attitude of government agencies disinclined to share the identity of the asbestosis patients, the diplomacy of the state willing to pay the compensation but undecided on the amount and process coupled with the helplessness of the tribal communities being used as pawn for experiments. This document MLPC intends to share the plight of the mineworkers with the members of the civil societies working for the deprived communities and the sensitize other members of the society who fail to realize the basic needs of the deprived.
