Tripling renewables by 2030: interpreting the global goal at the regional level
This report provides a regional breakdown of 1.5ºC compatible renewables deployment, showing what six major world regions – the OECD, Asia, Latin America, Eurasia, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) – could contribute towards upscaling renewables by 2030. It compares these benchmarks to the latest IEA renewable forecasts to identify the gaps that need to be closed. Finally, it provides an estimate of the investments in renewables and grid expansion that drives the power sector transition out to 2030 and identifies where additional finance is needed to support the transition.
