The Sindh government would soon initiate work for the promotion of small scale mining by employing latest practices in marble and granite mining. Sources told Business Recorder on Monday that a scheme was being introduced to improve mining practices in small scale mining sector at Sonda, district Jamshoro, and granite at Nagarparkar with a total cost of Rs 2,500 million.

A lingering dispute between the Sindh government and City District Government Karachi (CDGK) may put the long-awaited Rs 500 million Benazir Transit CNG buses project in doldrums.

Sindh government has selected four consultant firms for initiating feasibility work for the "cluster development" of agro-based small and medium enterprises, sources told Business Recorder on Friday. They said that six companies had taken part in the bidding process, out of them four pre-qualified last Monday.

The Sindh government has distributed 42,203 acres of agricultural land among the landless farmers (Haris) in five months, it is learnt. According to sources, the provincial government had started the distribution of agricultural land to the landless Haris on November 15 last year and a target of distribution of 85,199 acres of land till June 30 was given to the Board of Revenue (BoR).
