People’s Union for Democratic Rights welcomes the 18 October Delhi High Court judgment by justice Pradeep Nandrajog and justice Manmohan Singh on the Delhi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The judgment rejected a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by an NGO, Nyaya Bhoomi, that demanded the scrapping of the BRT system introduced between Moolchand and Amdedkar Nagar, a stretch of 5.8 km and cancelling the seven BRT corridors planned by the Delhi government. The People’s Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR) strongly condemns the ongoing repression by the state on the
peaceful protest against the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project in Tamil Nadu, particularly since 8 May 2012. It condemns the policy of using tactics of threat and intimidation to crush a democratic movement. (Letters)
