The Sixth Engineering Asia and Third Power and Alternative Energy Asia exhibitions simultaneously with Third International Conference on Alternative Energy and Power will be held from March 28-30 at Expo Center Karachi.

Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) Wednesday signed an agreement with ABB, a Japanese firm to help the consumers for electricity conservancy to minimise the ever-increasing power demand in the metropolis.

Pakistan contributes little to greenhouse gas emission and global climate change. Its total energy-related carbon dioxide emission, measure about 100 million tons, out of which, 46 percent is from oil-related emissions, 45 percent from gas and 9 percent from coal, an Asian Development Bank Study report said.

BEIJING (March 25 2009): A foreign banks consortium, comprising BNP Paribas, HSBC Bank plc, the Export-Import Bank of China, has signed a Sinosure buyer credit facility agreement of 150.151 million dollar with Northern Power Generation Company Limited for construction of 425 MW combined cycle power project at Nandipur, Finance Director of the company Ijaz A. Babar told APP.

The Petroleum Institute of Pakistan (PIP), a representative body of Pakistan oil and gas industry is organising a seminar on "Energy Crisis and Lessons Learnt" at a local hotel here on November 25, 2008. The objective of the seminar is to debate the growing energy crisis and critically review its causes and impact on our economy.

The Petroleum Ministry has finalised a draft of a new petroleum policy that lays stress on exploration in new blocks and offering various fiscal incentives to exploration companies. Sources in the Ministry said that after approved by the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources the draft would be forwarded to the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet for final endorsement.

The Third Power and Alternative Energy Asia 2009 International Exhibition and Conference will be held here in March next. About 700 villages would be electrified and three new 132KV power grid stations would be established in Balochistan under Rs1.6 billion Second Rural Village Electrification Project also known as Kuwait Fund, sources in Balochistan Provincial and Planning department told APP on Monday.
