Sri Lanka Diabetes Society has revealed that 24 percent of the country's population suffers from diabetes.

Farmers in Northern Sri Lanka, especially in Vavuniya and Mannar are facing another problem as drought conditions prevail in those areas severely at the moment.
Sources said nearly 20,000 acres of paddy fields in Vavuniya and Mannar have been destroyed due to this heavy drought.
