A three-member team from Global Tiger Forum today visited Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary to make an assessment of the gamepark.

Headed by S.C. Dey, the secretary-general of the forum, the team will be assessing various aspect of the sanctuary like its development since the creation of the state.

Traffic movement came to a halt today when residents of Kandra and Gamharia in Seraikela-Kharsawan district blocked the road for over four hours, protesting against the rising pollution level because of sponge-iron units.

The protesters squatted on the road blocking it with their cycles and tractors and refused to budge till their demands were met.

The groundwork for setting up four integrated steel plants in Dumka and Jamtara is likely to begin next month.

The state government has agreed to renew the MoUs that expired in February this year and has directed officials to initiate necessary steps to make the proposed industries functional at the earliest.

Jamshedpur: With the state recording an increase in the number of malnourished children, the government has embarked on a project to set up malnutrition treatment centres (MTCs) in the districts on the lines of Rajasthan.

The first such centre will start functioning in Ghatshila from mid-December. Another will open in Jugsalai in a couple of months.
