JAIPUR: Some parts of Rajasthan felt mild tremors on Monday following an earthquake of 5.7 magnitude with epicentre at the Hindukush mountain ranges in Afghanistan which occurred around 3.20 pm.

According to reports, the tremors were mainly felt in Pakistan and adjoining Indian territories mainly Jammu and Kashmir.

Jaipur: The Central Empowered Committee (CEC) constituted by the Supreme Court has directed the state government to bring all such activities to a stop at the Ranthambore National Park that violates the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 or directives of the apex court.

The CEC directive follows a petition filed by Belinda Wright, executive director of the Wildlife Protection Society of India.

JAIPUR: The state government has sent its proposal to the Centre earmarking eco-sensitive zones around various national parks and sanctuaries. The proposals were sent just before the new guidelines for declaration of eco-sensitive zones were issued by the ministry of forest and environment.

In order to strike a balance between environment and development, Rajasthan, like other states, is going to submit an action plan for climate change adaptation to the Union ministry of environment by March 31.
Speaking at a conference on Thursday, CM Ashok Ghelot said,

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has agreed in principle to include the Ramgarh Vishdhari Wildlife Sanctuary in Bundi in Project Tiger. However, a final nod from the authority will follow after a detailed plan is submitted to it by the state government. The NTCA decision follows a twoday visit by director Rajesh Gopal to the Ranthambore national park.
