JAIPUR: On the eve of the state budget presentation, wildlife activists have pinned their hopes on chief minister Ashok Gehlot to announce some steps towards wildlife conservation.

Some are hoping that the long neglected state bird, the Great Indian Bustard (GIB), will finally get its share in the budget. Rajasthan was once home to 50% of the bird population which has now come down to just about 100.

Jaipur Zoo May Also Become Part Of Nahargarh Park

Jaipur: The Nahargarh hills in the city may soon become a destination for wildlife lovers coming to Jaipur if a proposal to start tiger safari in the sanctuary area is approved. The idea is to cash on tourists who visit Amber by creating an additional tourism facility. Besides the forts and the museums, Jaipur would also become a potential wildlife destination and a quick substitute to Ranthambore and Sariska Tiger Reserve.

JAIPUR: Tourists will now have a new destination in the Pink City. Laced with promises of a near Sariska or even a Ranthambore-like experience sans the distance and the cost, the state forest department will shortly be inaugurating a new jungle safari at the sprawling Nahargarh Biological Park on the Jaipur-Delhi highway.

Jaipur: Every year, a large number of bird watchers visit Nahargarh Biological Park, Jaipur to see whitenaped tit, a bird species endemic to India.
