Statistics is the pivotal component for drawing inferences, initiating policy formulations and also for research purposes. In this endeavor, considering the importance of the statistics, this Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Government of Telangana has made an attempt to bringing out a publication namely “Economy in Brief – Telangana State, 2015”, containing important statistics on important economic parameters, including certain key demographic and other characters of the state. This is the first publication after formation of the new State.

In a scenario where the publication and dissemination of statistics is decentralized, both vertically and laterally, there is a demand for availability of data from diverse fields, at one place. Directorate of Economics and Statistics, being the nodal agency at the state level has taken steps to cater to such requirement. As a result, the publication “Statistical Year Book 2015” provides both time series and cross sectional data covering various sectors.

Telangana has a vast solar potential with average solar insolation of nearly 5.5 kWh/m2 for more 300 sunshine days. Government of Telangana (GoTS), intends to make use of the positive environment in solar market and push given by GoI for substantially harnessing the solar potential in the state of Telangana.
