New report on impacts of mining on children by HAQ, Samata and mm&P shows that children & their communities are not part of the growth that mining promises. It addresses loopholes in the policy & demands an assessment of children’s status in mining areas.

Dhaatri Resource Centre, Samata, and mines, minerals & PEOPLE (mm&P) had undertaken a national level study on the problems and impacts of women affected by different mining activities in the country, with case studies from five states in India – Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

Exploring the impacts of mining on children in India includes both children working in the mines and children affected by mining, for example, through displacement due to new mining projects or the effect of mining on their health.
