Report filed by the Chief Environmental Engineer on behalf of Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) dated 14/09/2020.

The matter relates to solid waste management in the municipalities of Aluva, Angamali, Kalamassery, Maradu, Thrikkakara and Thrippunithura and panchayats namely Cheranallur and Vadavucode-Puthencruz to ascertain the compliance of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of non-compliance of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 (SWM Rules, 2016) causing huge pollution at Bharampuram Solid Waste Processing Plant on the outskirts of Kochi city in Kerala affecting environment and public health.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Manakunnam Village, Padashekara Samrakshana Samithy Vs Thiripunithura Municipality, Kerala & Others dated 26/05/2020.

The matter related to pollution of river Konothupuzha, Ernakulam district of Kerala.

Kerala filed its action plan on restoration of water bodies in compliance of the National Green Tribunal order of February 25, 2020 in the matter of Lt. Col Sarvadaman Singh Oberoi Vs Union of India & Others to the Central Pollution Control Board. The NGT had sought information from all states and Union Territories on water bodies – its identification, protection and restoration.

Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of In Re: Report received from State Level Monitoring Committee, Kerala, constituted by this Tribunal vide order dated 16.01.2019 in O.A. No. 606/2018, headed by Justice A.V.R Pillai, former Judge of Kerala High Court, to oversee compliance of directions on the subject of Solid Waste Management dated 24/01/2020 regarding unscientific dumping of waste in violation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 (SWM Rules, 2016) causing huge pollution at Bharampuram solid waste processing plant on the outskirts of Kochi city.

Order of the Supreme Court of India in the matter of The Kerala State Coastal Zone Management Authority Vs Maradu Municipality & Others dated 13/01/2020 regarding Maradu flats demolition, Kochi, Kerala.

Order of the National Green Tribunal (Southern Zone, Chennai) in the matter of Lawyers’ Environmental Awareness Forum (LEAF) Vs Government of Kerala & Others dated 06/01/2020 regarding air pollution especially vehicular pollution in Kerala. There was no policy formulation on the issue of curbing the use of diesel vehicles which are more than ten years old in the state, the application stated.

Report by Kerala State Pollution Control Board to the Central Pollution Control Board in OA No. 519 of 2019 dated 01/01/2020. The matter related to mangement of legacy waste. The NGT had directed the Central Pollution Control Board to compile the latest data on the dumpsites with the assistance of State PCBs/PCCs and Secretaries, Urban Development of all the states/UTs within one month and place the information of such dumpsites on its website.
