New Delhi: The Centre today said it had rejected an application by Adani Group to set up a coal mine at Lohara near Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), to supply coal for its 1980mw power plant in Gondia district of Maharashtra.

With power crisis looming large, Assam Government has sought gas and coal linkages to kick start Chandrapur and Amguri power projects, adding 560 MW additional power.

Fly ash is an industrial waste generated from thermal power plants. A large part of fly ash produced is disposed of with very high environmental risk.

Concerted efforts are being undertaken in Madhya Pradesh for increasing power generation. For this purpose, various schemes and projects are under construction in different phases due to which power generation in Madhya Pradesh will go up by 5,486 by the year 2013-14.


The Chandrapur Thermal Power Station (CTPS), which was closed down in 1999, will be revived in joint venture within the next two years and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Assam State Electricity Board (ASEB) and a consortium of three private companies in presence of Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi today.

Mumbai: For a state already grappling with severe power shortage, this news is sure to come as a shock. If experts are to be believed, Maharashtra will now have to brace itself for more hours of load-shedding following a major snag at Chandrapur and Khaparkheda thermal power stations.
