Concrete efforts are being made to increase installed power generation capacity in view of rising demand for power in the State.

Bhopal : Power demand is at its lowest presently. Consumers in entire state are being supplied power 24-hours.

The demand for power has come down in the state with the arrival of rainy season. At present, the power demand stands at five thousand megawatts. One unit each of Amarkantak and Satpura have been closed down for annual maintenance in view of reduction in power demand.

To overcome the hurdles in power generation in the State due to coal shortage, the Madhya Pradesh Government has decided to import 8 lakh metric tonne of fossil fuel for its thermal power stations this fiscal year.

Effective efforts are being undertaken to increase power generation and installed capacity in the state in view of ever-increasing demand for power. The state government is working at a fast pace to make Madhya Pradesh self-reliant in power generation.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the Ministry of Railways to improve their operational arrangements so that required quantity of coal may be supplied to Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station, Birsinghpur and Satpura Thermal Power Stations smoothly.
